FOURTH CLASS, April 9, 2015

This week students transformed black and white postcards of California missions to Faux-style paintings.  They used imaginative color, mostly unmixed, going directly from the palette to the paper.
They used large brushes, broad brushstrokes and pointillist dabs.

Students looked closely at illustrations of birds..  Some students used drawing pens and others small brushes to represent the finer details.

HOMEWORK

 

 

After the second class, some students did homework.  The theme was palm trees by the ocean.  Each student made an interesting interpretation of the ocean and of palm trees.

FIRST CLASS, March 12, 2015

For this first class, students did quick sketches to portray the "personality" of trees. 
Students were reminded that in an Asian painting, the artist must feel  a connection between what he or she is seeing in nature and what he or she is feeling inside.  Mary added words to make the connection perfectly clear.
