NATURE PAST ITS PRIME, August 4, 2016

In this class, to begin with, students practiced creating neutral colors by mixing opposites on the color wheel.  They then  sketched and  painted  objects from nature such as a dead leaf and sunflower.  The project was to look carefully to see the interesting shapes and subtle colors.

IMPRESSIONS OF THE GARDEN July 21, 2016

This week students selected photos of their own or other gardens...  After looking at Monet's garden paintings, we did an exercise of painting brush strokes with intense color on background washes. Then the class went on to try their own hand at painting gardens.

PAINTING FLOWERS, SOFT COLORS AND SOFT EDGES, July 14, 2016

In this class, students practiced making soft colors and soft edges.  They then went on to paint flowers using what they had practiced.
