SECOND CLASS, January 22, 2015




This was a class to experiment with color and form abstractly.  Students did a series of exercises.  First they painted dabs of color which they let run together.  When this dried, they put a geometric shape on top of the first layer to create a sense of space.

Then they painted dabs which did not run together.  They added  lines to connect the patches of paint.

For the last exercise, each student took an example of a painting by the outsider artist J.B. Murray and did an interpretation of his work.

FIRST CLASS, January 15, 2015

For this first class, students painted a view from a window.  The challenge was to create the effect of fog by blurring the background images.
